On 26-29 of May, 2008 the Trade Union of Belgium has invited the delegation of Georgian Trade Union Confederation to Brussels. The delegation was governed by Irakli Petriashvili,the Chairman of Georgian Trade Union Confederation. George Khitalishvili, the vice-chairman of Tbilisi Metro Workers Trade Union to Brussels, Belgium. George Khitalishvili,the vice-chairman of Tbilisi metro Workers Trade Union was one of the delegation members.There were a lot of meetings in Brussels: the meeting with Grigor Gradev ( PERC Executive Secretary),Tom Jenkins and James Howard (the management of ITUC, European Trade Unions Confederation), Stefan Clauwaert (the representative of Council of Europe),Jaap Wienen(the manager of ITUC DGS ),Andreas Herdina (the representative of DG Trade and DG - Employment) and other different persons.Grigor Gradev, the representative of European Trade Union Confederation, has arranged a meeting with Philip Alfonse, one of the presidents of European Transport Trade Unions. At the mentioned meeting was noticed that it is necessary to establish more close relationship between Tbilisi Metro Workers Trade Union and European Transport Trade unions Confederation.There was exchanging of information: a lot of talks about the workers works in transport industry and compare the conditions of works in Georgia and Europe, as well as was mentioned that a lot of workers work in health harmful conditions, discussions about the privileges which have workers works in European organizations. As well as, there was a meeting with the representative of Euro Commission, experts and lawyers, which were discussing the inadequate labor code of Georgia. At the meeting were made a lot of comments and conclusions that was very useful for guests.

On 6 of March, 2008 Robert Kiene, the Deputy Chief of Political/Economic Section of American Embassy and Robert Filding, the Manager of Program of the USA Trade Unions Centre of Solidarity for Georgia have visited Tbilisi Metro Workers Trade Union. They have become interested in work of our Trade Union, the protest action which was held on 25 of February and the agreement (collective contract). As well as they were interested in issue which role plays and how works the institute which called the Trade Union that protects the rights and interests of workers. They have noticed that Tbilisi Metro Workers Trade Union is one of most powerful trade unions in country which plays important role to improve social-economic conditions for workers. Our guests positively estimate the work of Trade Union and always are ready to cooperate with our trade union and help us in our activities.
With the purpose to protect the social-economic rights and interests of workers in manufacture, Besik Kharatishvili and George Khitalishvili, the leaders of Tbilisi Metro Workers Trade Union have lead the peace protest action at "El. Depo" Metro on 25 of February, 2008. In the conclusion of action there was concluded the agreement between the administration of Tbilisi Metro and Trade Union. On base of mentioned agreement, there was made following changes: from 1 of April, the labor contracts were concluded with the terms not less than 2 years, were increased the salaries of workers, and the workers who work in dangerous and health harmful conditions will get bonuses.
There was three-sided seminar of countries of East Europe and Central Asia on issue of "Insurance of accidents and occupational diseases in manufacture: problems, tendencies and strategy of reforms" which was held from 11 to 15 of February, 2008 in Italy. Besik Kharatishvili, the Chairman of Tbilisi Metro Workers" Trade Union has attended the seminar.

In spite of the small financial recourses, the Trade Union of Tbilisi Metro Workers' has made a documentary film named "Solidarity" This film represents the activities of Tbilisi Metro Workers' Trade Union and the reached results during the period of 2006-2007 years.

The confederation congress of Trade Unions was held on 13-14 of September, 2007. The Georgian delegation and the Chairman of Tbilisi Metro Workers Trade Union, Besik Kharatishvili, were invited under the direction of Irakli Petriashvili.

The fare of underground has been increased since 1 of July. This fact provided the abolition of underground coded cards. These cards were changed by new electronic ones. It's necessary to notice that before coded cards were changed every worker of the underground used it. After new system began working, 599 workers did not received new electronic cards that has displeased from workers and management of Trade Union towards the Metro Administration. On 6 of July, there was a meeting of the Management of Trade Union and the Metro Administration. The meeting was held at the Depot " Gldani". 350 members of Tbilisi Metro Workers' Trade Union presented at the meeting. At the meeting were considered the issues of the differential increase of salaries and the issues of improving the conditions of work. In conclusion of the meeting two terms were accepted: 1.The salaries shall be differential increased since August, 2007 2.The rest (720) workers shall received the electronic cards since August,2007 (See photos in the gallery)

After the long period of the negotiations, Tbilisi Metro Workers' trade Union have signed the contract with the Insurance Company " Aldagi BCI". In a consequence of that they have got the exclusive prices on insurance policy for the members of Tbilisi Metro Workers' trade Union and their families. (See photos in the gallery)

During last months, with the purpose of affiliation to the International Transport Federation (ITF) Tbilisi Metro Workers' Trade Union carried on the negotiations with this organization. We have to notice that in conclusion of the negotiations, Tbilisi Metro Workers' Trade Union became the plenipotentiary member of the ITF on 1 June,2007. The members of the Georgian Trade Union Federation and the 600 members of Tbilisi Metro Workers' Trade Union had crowded on "Roses" Square and then demonstratively went to the Parliament where they hold a mass-meeting to protect the rights of workers. Later they went to the Georgian Trade Union Culture Palace where the concert was. They met the representative of show-business and famous singers. (See photos in the gallery)

By the initiative of Georgian trade Union Federation there was the protest action at the building of the Ministry of Labor and Health. The Trade Union actively had taken a part in this action. The purpose of the action was to remind the Government of the questions of the minimal income for living and questions connected to pregnant women and mothers. (See photos in the gallery)

Under the decision of the Management of Tbilisi Metro Workers Trade Union, there was the action held at the building of Administration of Tbilisi Metro Workers Trade Union. In connection with Day of Mothers (3 March) and International Day of Women (8 March) the performance Parliament, Telephone and Love was held by the representatives of Theatre of Satire (The Art Director is Romeo Chutlashvili).The Tbilisi Metro Workers Trade union have made the brochures which, with the small presents, were given to the women members of Tbilisi Metro Workers Trade Union. Under the decision of the Tbilisi Metro Worker's Trade Union Board of Administration and the Satire and Variety Theatre Leader, with the Romeo Chutlashvili help there were organized the New Year Party on 13, 14 and 15 January, 2007. There was the New Year performance for the Tbilisi Metro Trade Union Members' children and the grandchildren (3-10 years old) where they receive the gifts. 1050 children were at performance. The Tbilisi Metro Worker's Trade Union (in spite of the small economic sources) has rewarded the workers who have been working in Tbilisi Metro for 40 years with the diplomas and the brochures and also have organized the banquet for them. There are some changes in the announcement which was published on the official website www.tmtu.ge and in the newspaper "24 hours" by Tbilisi Metro Workers' Trade Union on 4 Octomber,2006. The sentence "Tbilisi Metro Workers' Trade Union declares the tender on insurance of health protection and on insurance of workplaces" was replaced by the sentence "Tbilisi Metro Workers' Trade Union declares the tender on insurance of trade union members health protection and invites all the interested insurance companies to take part in this tender.

09.10.2006 Under the initiative of Tbilisi Metro Workers' Trade Union there was a tournament on mini-football, where 11 teams of Tbilisi Metro have taken part. This tournament has been accepted with a pleasure by members of Tbilisi Metro Workers' Trade Union. On completion of this tournament Tbilisi Metro Workers' Trade Union has organized an ation on vintage in the regions of Kakheti.

06.07.2006 There was an agreement between L.T.D "Tbilisi Metro" trade union and the administration of the organization, which provides for even the minimal interests of workers, and by the main item has been noted that in current of two months, after reorganization (from the date of signing the agreement), will be approved the new agreement, which will deeply improve social and working conditions. 04.07.2006 The main aid of new head of the trade union organization is an improvement of social conditions for workers all over Georgia. The International Commonwealth has supported the Georgian trade union in it. There were a lot of meetings by the European and Russian representatives and the main meeting was with Mr. Guy Bernard Raider, the general secretary of International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) All the rest depends on the activity of our trade union.
